The region of Priorat, located in the south of Catalonia, gives name to one of the most exclusive wines in the world. A long history of effort that began as early as the middle Ages. The visit will start by going up to the picturesque village of Siurana, where you will enjoy breathtaking views of the mountains of Montsant, backdrop of the whole visit. From there to the ancient Carthusian monastery of Scala Dei, founded by a small community of monks at the end of the 12th century and which became, over the centuries, the most splendid of the Peninsula. The events of 1835 devastated the monastery, but nowadays one can visit a rebuild cell and, thanks to the explanations of your guide, you will be able to evoke its lost splendor and the way of life of the monks of San Bruno. And then, time to try some of the prestigious Priorat wines in Conreria, a small town located next to the Carthusian monastery. Priorat mainly produces red wines, typically made with Cariñena and Garnacha grapes, to which the licorella, a local slate, gives a unique personality.
