Tarraco was the capital of Hispania Citerior, one of the largest provinces in the Roman Empire. We proposes a fascinating visit where you will be surprised by the coexistence of the inhabitants of Tarragona with the imperial past of the city. Since the Middle Ages, the històric center of Tarragona (know as part Alta) is based on the old Roman acropolis.

We will visit the oldest Roman walls in Spain and discover, by strolling through the city streets, the great Provincial Forum and the Circus recent excavations. And finally, we will finish the visit at the amphitheater, located by the sea.

Reus is the birthplace of Antoni Gaudí and after Barcelona, it is the Catalan city with the largest number of modernist buildings, created by different architects of the time. The most emblematic ones are located in the city centre, which makes it perfect for a walking tour. So we will take a relaxed stroll through the city’s noble streets, visiting. Reus main monuments and modernist buildings, which will bring us closer to the splendor of this city in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. We will walk along the street of Sant Joan, which features a significant number of grand modernist houses by architect Domènech i Montaner. Then we will get to one of Reus main squares, Prim Square, where we will see the statue of General Prim and learn about this military leader and political figure who played an important role in the history of Spain and also the impressive façade of the most elegant theater of the city, Teatre Fortuny. Our guided tour will end after a nice walk through Mercadal Square, the Reading Center —a splendid building of 1859 that houses one of the most important libraries in Catalunya—and the priory church of Sant Pere, where the brilliant architect Antoni Gaudí was baptized.

MONESTIR DE POBLET – Monks and Kings.

An interesting trip to the middle Ages, where we will discover the Royal Monastery of Santa Maria de Poblet, UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Monastery of Poblet is a splendid monumental complex set in an idyllic valley, surrounded by the mountains of Prades. It was the royal pantheon of the Crown of Aragon and today it still houses an active community of thirty Cistercian monks. You will visit the monastery with an expert guide who will lead you through the different rooms -articulated around the cloister- and will explain the daily life of the monks. Can you imagine what it feels like to listen to a short chapter of the Benedictine rule in the great monks’ bedroom? Going into the church is diving into a key chapter of the history of the Crown of Aragon. The monarchs, sure of the constant prayer of the monks, chose this monastery -located in the south of Catalonia- as their royal pantheon and here your guide will help you understand the genealogy of the kings. The region of Priorat, located in the south of Catalonia, gives name to one of the most exclusive wines in the world. A long history of effort that began as early as the middle Ages. The visit will start by going up to the picturesque village of Siurana, where you will enjoy breathtaking views of the mountains of Montsant, backdrop of the whole visit. From there to the ancient Carthusian monastery of Scala Dei, founded by a small community of monks at the end of the 12th century and which became, over the centuries, the most splendid of the Peninsula. The events of 1835 devastated the monastery, but nowadays one can visit a rebuild cell and, thanks to the explanations of your guide, you will be able to evoke its lost splendor and the way of life of the monks of San Bruno. The Delta de l’Ebre is the estuary of the Ebre River. This nature space is located in the south of Tarragona and covers an area of 320 square kilometers, of which 80 comprise a nature reserve. It has a great ornithological richness and is internationally important due to the presence of over 400 species and some of the most important breeding colonies in the Mediterranean. It has a unique landscape, home to everything from market gardens and orchards to rice fields, while in the coastal area there are large lakes fringed by rush and reed beds. The area around this nature reserve is characterized by its saline soils, and extensive deserted sandy beaches with dune systems. We will visit this beautiful nature reserve, learning about the delta’s evolution and its rich agriculture, where rice is the main crop of the area. We will enjoy a boat trip to the mouth of the delta, a relaxing adventure that will allow you to grasp the importance of this wetland, one of the highlights of the Mediterranean basin and the largest one in Catalonia. From the boat, we will observe the lush riverside forest, reed beds and the large number of birds that live in this nature reserve, to finally reach the Mediterranean sea, where fresh and salt water mix.
